Welcome from the Chair of Governors of Intake Primary School
Dear Applicant,
I warmly welcome you to Intake Primary School and am delighted that you are interested in the exciting opportunity we have to lead our staff team as Headteacher of Intake.
I hope you will see, as you research our school, that it is a caring, welcoming environment, with talented, dedicated and enthusiastic staff. In partnership with children and families, they truly strive to enable our children to develop and learn to the best of their abilities.
Our school is committed to providing an engaging and challenging curriculum, and over the past few years have designed and implemented a renewed curriculum centred around learning themes which engage and excite our children, and are in line with the New Primary Curriculum. We value learning out of the classroom, and a wide range of school visits inspire and enhance this experience.
We have a well equipped school, with up to date facilities in a traditional setting, together with fabulous new sports facilities and ample outside space. All our classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards and other ICT facilities, and we have pleasant and well stocked libraries. Our sports facilities are superb, and our two school halls including superb stage and theatre facilities allow our children to really stretch themselves in performance work.
Our staff are well motivated and enthusiastic. We are well versed in assessment and target setting, using Raise Online extensively to assist with this. AFL and APP are now well used throughout the school for recognising and recording progress, and the leadership team is now well established. At the time of our last Ofsted report we were at the beginning of these processes, and we have moved forward significantly.
We are well on the way to becoming a full Extended School, with breakfast and a wide range of after school clubs, and a range of well supported short courses and activities for parents. Our school benefits from a new initiative of Parent Support Advisers, a scheme which has greatly benefited parental involvement. Our school facilities are made available to the public outside school hours and we have a wide range of lettings, which boosts both community involvement and the budget, which is sound.
In short, Intake Primary is an improving school, with a curriculum and staff well prepared to meet the challenges ahead. Due to the retirement of our Head Gaynor Geraghty, we are looking for a Head who will build on her considerable achievements and take us forward.
You are welcome to visit us to learn more, or if you wish to talk to someone or receive further information, please contact Michelle White in the school office and we will be pleased to help. I look forward to receiving your application.
With best wishes,
David Hunt
Chair of Governors
